This course satisfies the MQSA requirement of 8.0 hours of digital mammography training in a new mammographic modality specifically on the Hologic, GE, Siemens, and Fujifilm Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) Systems.

This comprehensive training program fulfils the MQSA requirement of 8.0 hours of training in the mammographic modality of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT). It provides mammographers with the practical skills needed to confidently incorporate Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) into daily clinical practice. Participants will gain a deep understanding of:

  • Core Principles of DBT: Learn the fundamentals of 3D mammography and how tomosynthesis enhances traditional imaging by producing thin, cross-sectional views of breast tissue.
  • Workflow Integration: Understand how adopting DBT technology impacts operational efficiency and patient care at Women’s Centers and imaging facilities.
  • Clinical Benefits: Discover how DBT improves lesion visibility, reduces false positives, and enhances diagnostic accuracy by minimizing tissue overlap.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Explore current FDA guidelines for personnel qualifications and review quality control testing required for DBT equipment.

Designed for technologists at all experience levels, this course bridges technical expertise with patient-centered communication, empowering professionals to explain 3D mammography in clear, relatable terms.

After this 3D mammography training program, attendees should be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT)
  • Ascertain the benefits of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis over conventional mammography
  • Identify additional QC tests for DBT equipment and unique QC tests for each approved unit (Hologic, GE, Siemens and Fujifilm)
  • Identify personnel training requirements

  • Apply DBT concepts to daily operational needs from an administrative perspective and team approach in conjunction with radiologists
  • Review the Parameter optimization unique to Hologic, GE, Siemens and Fujifilm units
  • Describe the indications for use and image creation for the Hologic, GE, Siemens and Fujifilm Tomosynthesis units.
