Diabetes Mellitus, Periodontal Diseases and Patient Management is organized by Los Angeles Dental Society (LADS) and will be held on May 24, 2022. This course has been approved for a maximum of 2 Units of Continuing Education.

Description:
Over 30 million Americans have diabetes. Diabetes has a bi-directional relationship with inflammatory oral diseases. How do they treat diabetes patients differently in the dental office, or do they? This course has a clinical focus and is designed to make us more comfortable treating patients with diabetes. The course emphasizes current medical therapies for diabetes, dental treatment pathways for these patients, and prevention and management of diabetic emergencies in the dental office.

Learning Objectives:
• Understand how diabetes and oral health interrelate.
• Comprehend modern medical management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
• Appreciate the potential impact of diabetes on dental care.
• Know different strategies for managing dental patients with diabetes.
