Clinicians as Educators – Effective Teaching Skills is organized by Royal College Of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and will be held from Jan 14 - Mar 20, 2026.

Description:
As well as offering insight into educational theory, this RCSI Department of Surgical Affairs module is practical in its approach and will ensure the improvement of your clinical bedside and classroom teaching and assessing skills.

You will have lots of opportunity for peer and faculty discussions on clinical teaching experiences and challenges and will gain insights into developing solutions. Tips for engaging large and small groups, using technology to enhance student learning and practising giving feedback, are all components of this practical skills-based course.

You will further develop teaching and presentation skills with feedback from peers and faculty. 

This module aims to support and promote the development of your role as a teacher and assessor in clinical practice. 

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module, you will:

  • Be able to plan and organise teaching sessions for large and small groups.
  • Have developed your teaching and presentation skills.
  • Be able to identify and utilise appropriate teaching resources.
  • Devise a teaching/lesson plan for an educational event.
