Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG) 46th Annual Scientific Meeting is organized by Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG) / College Canadien des Geneticiens Medicaux (CCGM) and will be held from Jun 06 - 10, 2022.
Description:
The CCMG Annual Meeting is a unique gathering of individuals from academic and community medical centres who are interested in education and promoting best practices in clinical and laboratory genetics. Through presentations, discussions, educational workshops and networking with industry partners, the meeting advances clinical practice, science and excellence in all areas of genetics in Canada, and fosters an environment of collaboration and education. This year is the birth bicentennial of Gregor Johann Mendel. As we celebrate his seminal contributions to our field, the 2022 conference will have multidisciplinary symposia that reflect his impact on human genetics.
Objectives:
At the end of this year's meeting, participants will be able to:
• Discuss the rapid evolution of pediatric cancer genetics and genomics, and how this knowledgebase is guiding clinical management
• Describe the origins and principles of the eugenics movement in Canada, and understand its influence on the field of medical genetics
• Describe the importance of standardized personalized pharmacogenomics testing, and understand the genetics of multifactorial disorders
• Reflect on current targets and processes for newborn screening and consider how these will evolve in the coming years
• Discuss the importance of equity in relation to diagnostic accuracy, and identify strategies to deliver optimal care for a diverse population in our health care system
• Understand the principles of narrative medicine and benefits of sharing one’s perspective with peers to stave off professional burnout
• Explain how optical genome mapping is transforming cytogenomics
Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
