Biofilm-Based Wound Care: A Virtual Skills Workshop is organized by Kestrel Health Information, Inc. and will be held on Sep 24, 2021.

Intended Learners:
This conference is designed for physicians, nurses, physical therapists, podiatrists, and dietitians across all practice settings involved in the prevention, treatment, and management of patients with wounds.

Description:
Our live workshop is both virtual and hands on. With a focus on applying tomorrow what you learn today, this unique experience enables you to learn the theory, watch the skills in action, and then do it yourself.

Based on the International Consensus Guideline, “Defying Hard to Heal Wounds with an Early Antibiofilm Intervention Strategy: Wound Hygiene,” this interactive, 1-day workshop reviews the 4 essential steps in addressing wound bioburden:
• Cleanse,
• Debride,
• Refashion, and
• Dress.

Don’t let the word “virtual” fool you. Your participation in this online event is uniquely HANDS-ON. You’re going to get involved and build serious muscle memory by taking your newly learned first-hand knowledge and translating it into real-world application.

Listen to lectures from the expert instructors on location at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine anatomy lab in San Antonio, Texas. Watch live cadaveric demonstrations from the anatomy lab, and practice what you learned in your own home or office “lab” for hands-on skills performance with step-by-step instruction during the workshop. Each session will be followed with a questions and answer period with the instructors to further guide your skills practice.

Learning Objectives:
After completing this activity, participants should be able to:
• Describe the four components of an evidence-based early anti-biofilm international guideline.
• Perform early antibiofilm based intervention strategies.
• Integrate strategies to adopt early anti-biofilm intervention strategies into clinical practice.
