Assessing and Treating Emotional Dysregulation in Youth is organized by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and will be held on Jul 10, 2026.

Description:
This training is part of the Partners for Kids-Behavioral Health Education Series! Registration is intended for external Partners for Kids providers. A Zoom link and further instructions will be sent closer to the actual training date.

This series provides participants with the opportunity to learn from internal experts in the behavioral health field. Relevant behavioral health topics and evidence-based practice tools are presented in a monthly lecture format.

Participants will explore the biopsychosocial model as it relates to emotional regulation, gain foundational skills in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and learn to apply these techniques to support both youth and their caregivers. Through interactive discussion and role-play practice, attendees will develop confidence in introducing and implementing DBT-informed skills across diverse clinical settings and populations.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the biopsychosocial model and its relationship to emotion dysregulation in youth
  2. Learn basic DBT skills and appropriate applications to regulate intense emotions.
  3. Learn skills to support caregivers of dysregulated youth as well as their applications to different concerns and populations
