OVERVIEW

American Society of Dermatopathology (ASDP) 58th Virtual Annual Meeting is organized by The American Society of Dermatopathology (ASDP) and will be held during Oct 20 - 24, 2021

Learning Objectives:
The educational mission of the ASDP is to teach, aid in the dissemination of knowledge and encourage research to improve the quality of the practice of dermatopathology. The annual meeting is primarily an educational one, offering members, fellows, residents and medical students lectures on current topics in dermatopathology, interactive sessions at the microscope, a self-assessment course, and opportunities for poster and abstract presentations.

After attending the 2021 Annual Meeting, participants should be able to:‎
• Recognize histologic features of common, rare and unusual entities in dermatopathology.‎
• Differentiate clinical and histological features of interesting, complex, difficult, and rare ‎disorders of the skin.‎
• Demonstrate a methodological approach toward diagnosis of complex, challenging skin ‎biopsies.‎
• Recognize important features of challenging cases and generate clinically relevant differential ‎diagnosis.‎
• Recognize the role of advocacy in dermatopathology practice and identify avenues for ‎involvement to maximize impact in policy change.‎
• practice pearls derived from the experience of expert dermatopathologists to increase ‎diagnostic accuracy and improve patient outcomes.  ‎
• Differentiate clinical and histological features of disorders of the skin that are more common in ‎patients with skin of color and underserved populations to increase diagnostic accuracy, and ‎improve patient care and outcomes.‎
• Utilize a pattern-based diagnostic approach in conjunction with immunohistochemistry and ‎molecular genetic testing to improve diagnostic accuracy of cutaneous mesenchymal tumors.‎
• Implement technologic advancements that emerged as a result of the pandemic to enhance ‎dermatopathology practice and education.‎
• Recognize the importance of visual recognition in dermatopathology diagnosis
• Utilize methods that can be applied to daily practice to reduce and prevent errors
• greater understanding of the pathophysiology of skin manifestations of viral ‎infections.
