9th International Meeting on Indigenous Child Health is organized by Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS) and will be held from Sep 10 - 11, 2021.

Description:
Plan to attend the only conference dedicated to the health and well-being of Indigenous children and youth in North America and around the world. From mental health to infectious diseases, early childhood to adolescence, the International Meeting on Indigenous Child Health is a forum for exploring a range of health-promoting programs and strategies

Conference streams:
• Clinical care and research  

(e.g., cancer, developmental/behavioral health, epigenetics, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, infectious diseases, injury prevention, mental health promotion, nutrition/obesity/diabetes, oral health, substance use/addictions/opioids/cannabis, immunization)
• Community programs  
(e.g. early child learning and development, child welfare, maternal-child health, family health, cultural/traditional health, youth engagement, school health)
• Emerging health issues  
(e.g. social media, reconciliation and calls to action, LGBTQ2S, gender affirming care)
• Public policy and health systems  
(e.g. access to health services, community infrastructure, racism in health care)
• Social determinants of health 
(e.g. food security/food sovereignty, culture, language, education, built and/or natural environments, land-based education programs, child welfare)

Conference Objectives:
At the end of the conference, participants will be able to:
• Apply new skills, insights, and knowledge about the multiple determinants of health to benefit Indigenous children, youth and communities.
• Develop multisectoral collaboration and partnerships to work towards achieving health equity for Indigenous children, youth and communities.
• Apply an enhanced understanding of culturally competent care in health interactions with Indigenous children and youth.
• Employ strategies to support the role of traditional health and healing practices in Indigenous communities.
• Identify the links between the environment and the health of Indigenous children, youth and their families/communities
