4-Day MSK Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training Program is organized by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and will be held from Nov 16 - 19, 2021.
Who Should Attend:
The target audience for this program includes multidisciplinary clinicians who work in various healthcare and community settings including primary care, behavioral health, addictions and rehabilitation settings, public housing, oncology settings, specialty medical care such as (e.g. pulmonary medicine, cardiology, oncology), and work site wellness settings.
Overview:
Tobacco Treatment Specialists (TTSs) are professional clinicians who possess the skills, knowledge, and training to provide effective, evidence-based interventions for tobacco dependence across of range of treatment intensities, in varying contexts, treatment modalities, and with different tobacco using populations.
The MSK 4-day virtual Tobacco Treatment Specialist training program will train multidisciplinary clinicians who work in different healthcare and community settings including primary care, behavioral health, addictions and rehabilitation settings, public housing, oncology settings, specialty medical care such as (e.g. pulmonary medicine, cardiology, oncology), and worksite wellness settings.
Objectives:
• To understand the Tobacco Treatment Specialists roles, responsibilities, professional development, and credentialing
• To describe and identify comprehensive approaches to tobacco control
• To demonstrate understanding of tobacco products in marketing, design, prevalence of use, and health consequences
• To identify and describe the biopsychosocial appproach to understanding and treating tobacco use
• To assess the comprehensive clinical assessment of the tobacco user
• To understand the principles of evidence-based, patient-centered, behavior change treatment strategies
• To demonstrate understanding of pharmacotherapy for tobacco use
• To analyze and evaluate treatment processes
• To understand documentation, coding, billing, health insurance, and program evaluation
• To describe and identify law and ethics
