During this series, the expert faculty will share their insights on what's unique about the direct anterior approach, including:
• Preoperative planning and preparation
• Acetabular exposure and preparation
• Femoral release techniques with and without a special table

Learning Objectives:
• Discuss and compare the clinical outcomes for direct anterior approach total hip arthroplasty versus other surgical approach for total hip arthroplasty, including length of stay, rehabilitation, postoperative restrictions, occurrence of infection and DVT, pain management, and return to activities of daily living
• Describe the patient selection criteria used to identify patients for whom total hip arthroplasty through the direct anterior approach may be indicated, as well as those for whom this approach may be contraindicated
• Evaluate, discuss, and compare techniques and technologies that may be used to facilitate acetabular exposure, femoral releases, and component positioning in direct anterior approach total hip arthroplasty, including specialized instrumentation, surgical tables, and computer navigation
