12th Annual Infectious Disease Update a Virtual Conference is organized by Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) and will be held on Jun 25, 2021.

Target Audience:
It is intended for infectious diseases practitioners as well as internists and other health care providers (primarily physicians but also nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists and nurses) with an interest in infectious diseases.

Description:
This course is our 12th Annual Update on Infectious Diseases.The program will consist of five state-of-the-art thirty minute lectures by experts in the field plus time for questions and answers from the audience. 

The first lecture will focus on the role of the clinical microbiology laboratory in the diagnosis and management of multidrug resistant bacterial and other infections. The presenter will highlight recent technological advances specifically in the area of targeted molecular diagnostic panels. Next will be an update on the status of HIV cure research, highlighting accomplishments to date and what the future may hold. The following presentation will summarize recent data on shorter durations of antibiotic therapy for common bacterial infections. The next presentation will be an update on current issues in infection control and prevention, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The final lecture will address the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines and monoclonal antibodies that have been used for prevention of this infection.
