In this journal-based CME activity, you will review decision-making in the management of Charcot arthropathy of the foot and ankle by following an evolving patient case scenario based on a recent article from the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS). After the reading, you will complete an assessment to test your orthopaedic knowledge, problem-solving, and clinical decision-making skills.

Learning Objectives:
• Discuss the epidemiology and pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus.
• Identify laboratory studies, imaging studies, diagnostic studies, tests, and procedures that help confirm Charcot neuroarthropathy of the foot ankle and guide treatment decision making.
• Describe upper extremity manifestations of unmanaged diabetes mellitus.
• Discuss perioperative considerations for patients with diabetes mellitus.
