OVERVIEW

American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Journal CME is organized by American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and will be held during Mar 14, 2017 - Mar 13, 2020.

The target audience for this medical event is anesthesiologists. Researchers and other health care professionals with an interest in anesthesiology may also participate. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

This article will focus on the use of perioperative lidocaine infusion for attaining postoperative benefits; intraoperative indications are outside the scope of this article, although several exist.

Conference Objectives are :

• Identify the potential perioperative benefits of lidocaine infusion (5,6)
• Differentiate between the surgical procedures for which intravenous lidocaine infusion may be useful and those for which it may not (2,4,5)
• Describe the possible mechanisms of clinical effect of perioperative lidocaine infusion (1,3)
