In this journal-based CME activity, you will review the typical presentation, diagnosis, and management of acute Achilles tendon ruptures by following an evolving patient case scenario based on a recent article from the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS). After the reading, you will complete an assessment to test your orthopaedic knowledge, problem-solving, and clinical decision-making skills.

• Discuss the indications for, outcomes of, rehabilitation protocols for, and complications of nonsurgical treatment options for the management of acute Achilles tendon rupture.
• Describe the benefits of early motion on Achilles tendon healing during functional rehabilitation.
• Review surgical treatment options for the management of acute Achilles tendon rupture, including percutaneous tendon repair and limited open repair.
• Explain the role of repair augmentation and biologic adjuncts in the surgical management of Achilles tendon rupture.
