Bascom Palmer Eye Institute invites you to join us this January for our Glaucoma 2027: Advances, Innovation, and Clinical Decision-Making CME program. This unique and exciting symposium will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2027. You have the option of joining us in-person at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, or from the comfort of your home through our interactive virtual program.

This one-day educational program is designed for clinicians involved in comprehensive ophthalmology and adult glaucoma care. Through an interactive and integrated format, distinguished faculty members will present the latest scientific advances and discuss their practical application in contemporary clinical practice. The course will also feature non-CME glaucoma surgical device wet labs, providing participants with valuable hands-on experience. A variety of case-based discussions, surgical videos, and clinical pearls will be incorporated throughout the program to highlight current approaches to the diagnosis, monitoring, and medical and surgical management of glaucoma. Attendees will gain evidence-based insights, practical strategies, and expert perspectives aimed at enhancing patient care and improving clinical outcomes.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Assess glaucomatous progression using multimodal diagnostic and imaging findings.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for glaucoma diagnosis, monitoring, and surgical management
  • Select individualized laser and pharmacologic treatment strategies based on patient-specific clinical factors.
  • Compare minimally invasive and traditional glaucoma surgical procedures according to clinical indications and expected outcomes.
  • Manage complications and reoperation decisions associated with glaucoma surgical interventions.
  • Apply patient-centered decision-making strategies to optimize treatment selection, adherence, and quality of life.
  • Individualize intraocular lens (IOL) selection for patients with glaucoma by balancing refractive goals, visual quality, contrast sensitivity, and the effects of glaucoma on functional vision.
