  • Documentation and discharge instruction best practices

How to Not Burn Out

  • “Remember your essay” — reconnecting to your purpose in medicine
  • Finding honesty in limitations and flaws
  • Balancing faith vs. fear in the practice of medicine

Abdominal Pain

  • Apply a systematic approach based on AFP guidelines
  • Avoid common pitfalls in abdominal pain assessment
  • Identify high-risk scenarios and differential diagnoses

Chest Pain

  • Differentiate causes of chest pain
  • Identify infectious causes and apply AHA/ACC guideline-based management
  • Calculate HEART Score and determine when to escalate care

Dyspnea

  • Diagnose top five diseases associated with dyspnea
  • Recognize CHF early and manage using AHA/ACC guidelines
  • Manage asthma according to Global Initiative in Asthma standards

Rashes

  • Review self-limiting vs serious rashes
  • Evaluate fungal, viral, and bacterial skin conditions

Addiction / ETOH & Opiates

  • Evaluate patients presenting with withdrawal symptoms

Emotional Intelligence: AMA (30')/Speed

  • Enhance APP–EA communication
  • Optimize bedside manner and patient engagement
  • Improve team dynamics across nurses and consultants

GU: UTI and Pyelonephritis

  • Evaluate dysuria and UTI cases
  • Diagnose and treat STDs with urgent care protocols

OB/GYN

  • Evaluate pregnancy and first-trimester complications
  • Identify & manage ectopic pregnancy

Headache

  • Identify life-threatening headaches (SAH, meningitis, temporal arteritis)
  • Manage common headaches (cluster, migraine, tension)
  • Review urgent care treatment strategies

Ortho

  • Review radiographic patterns of urgent care injuries
  • Head-to-toe review of common fractures
  • Splinting, stabilization, and pain management essentials

Wound Care

  • Assess wounds for nerve, tendon, and vascular involvement
  • Review closure techniques (tape, adhesive, sutures, staples)
  • Manage complicated wounds (bites, stellate, crush injuries)

Infectious Disease

  • Review common infections in urgent care medicine
  • Improve efficiency in clinical evaluation
  • Select appropriate empirical antimicrobials
