October 7, 2026: Assessing Abdominal Pain: A Practical Review (Dr. Buch)

• 1. Define the appropriate workup for several interactivecases of acute abdominal pain.
• 2. Illustrate the pitfalls in making a diagnosis.

Peptic Ulcer Disease and Helicobacter Highlights:

• 3. Identify the importance of risk factors in the development of UGI bleeding.
• 4. Select appropriate candidates for long term PPI therapy.
• 5. Review noninvasive ways of making a H pylori diagnosis.
• 6. Manage antibiotic therapy for Helicobacter 2024.

Clinical Dilemmas in GI Bleeding:

• 7. Describe the limitations of colonoscopy.
• 8. Recognize the importance of “Alarm Symptoms”.
• 9. Describe advanced endoscopic techniques that are used to evaluate GI bleeding.

October 8: The Art of Deprescribing in People with Profound Autism (Dr. Cummings)

• 1. Discuss why individuals with profound autism have reduced access to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.
• 2. Define polypharmacy.
• 3. Identify three reasons for polypharmacy in people with profound autism.
• 4. Apply deprescribing strategies to a clinical case example.
• 5. Define diagnostic overshadowing and evaluate factors that may contribute to it using a clinical case example.
• 6. Identify three common psychotropic side effects and assess how they contribute to aggression and self-injurious behaviors in people with intellectual disabilities.
• 7. Distinguish between affective and mood lability and describe how those differences influence treatment planning.

October 9: Mabology 101: The Clinical Science Behind Monoclonal Antibodies (Dr. Jones)

• 1. Describe the basic pharmacology behind monoclonal antibodies. 
• 2. Discuss how monoclonal antibodies are made. 
• 3. Discuss the nomenclature behind naming monoclonal antibodies. 
• 4. List examples of monoclonal antibodies and the conditions they treat. 
• 5. Outline in STEPS format (safety, tolerability, efficacy, price, simplicity) several monoclonal antibodies (i.e., Certolizumab, denosumab, new cholesterol medications.) 
• 6. Discuss the side effects of selected monoclonal antibodies. 
• 7. Discuss risk factors associated with these new technologies. 
• 8. List any general patient education.

Hotel Reservations

All room rates are subject to all state and local taxes, currently 13.0%. The above group rates are per room per night for a 2-night stay. Any stays of less than 2-nights are subject to a rate increase up to and including the prevailing online rate, at the discretion of the hotel. The rates also include complimentary parking and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

Reservations will require a credit card to guarantee the room reservation when made by individuals. When reservations are made by rooming list by the group, the reservations will be considered guaranteed by the group, unless the rooming list provides an individual’s credit card to guarantee those reservations. A credit card authorization form may be required by the hotel.All reservations must be made by the Cut Off date of September 6, 2026, thirty days prior to the date of arrival. Reservations received after the Cut Off Date will be made on a space and rate available basis.

If you don't make reservations and stay at the hotel where University Learning Systems has reserved a block of rooms, you must add the attrition surcharge to the conference fee. Staying at hotel with an offer other than the ULS Group such as through a third party booking, still requires payment of the Attrition Surcharge.

Hotel Attrition Surcharge: $50. Surcharge is waived for commuting students.

ULS will verify all rooming/cabin information with the hotel /travel agent and the hotel /travel agent has the right to release pertinent information to ULS for all attendees. No credit will be reported until the Attrition Surcharge is satisfied.

In-Person Conference Registration:  Conference registration includes workshop attendance, handouts, breakfast or refreshments during the meetings, and documentation of continuing education credit. Spouses, family, and friends are welcome and do not need to register unless they attend the educational sessions. Special seminar fees are available for non-professional accompanying persons who wish to attend one or more sessions (no special receipt, certification, or credit issued).

Requirements for Credit: Credit is dependent on verification of conference attendance by on-time check-in at each session and ULS receipt of completed evaluations. Credit is determined based on actual attendance on a per-session basis; no partial credit is awarded.

Statements of Credit:  Should you need a paper statement of credit, you can access that information via CPE Monitor. All other professionals: An applicable paper Statement of Credit will be issued upon receipt of your post-conference paperwork.
