  • Apply current diagnostic criteria for demyelinating disease, including updates to the McDonald Criteria, when evaluating patients with suspected inflammatory optic neuropathy
  • Distinguish multiple sclerosis, NMOSD, and MOG-associated disease using clinical features, MRI characteristics, and available biomarker testing
  • Identify vascular, retinal, and inflammatory conditions that mimic optic neuritis in order to reduce misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment.
  • Interpret MRI, OCT, and ancillary imaging findings while recognizing common pitfalls that may lead to diagnostic error
  • Integrate clinical, imaging, and laboratory data into evidence-based assessment and treatment strategies for patients presenting with optic neuritis or unexplained optic neuropathy
