OVERVIEW

20th Annual Diabetes Conference is organized by Texas A&M Coastal Bend Health Education Center (CBHEC) and will be held from Jul 17 - 18, 2026 at Hilliard Center (formerly the American Bank Center), Corpus Christi, Texas, United States of America.

Educational Need and Program Goal:
According to the 2026 CDC National Diabetes Statistics Report, approximately 40 million adults aged 18 and older, or 15% of all US adults have diabetes. Surprisingly, 11 million adults with diabetes had undiagnosed diabetes, making up 4% of all adults and 28% of adults with diabetes. The likelihood of having diabetes increases with age, peaking at 29% among those aged 65 and older, Additionally, 115 million people aged 18 years or older have prediabetes. The total cost of diagnosed diabetes in the United States was $412.9 billion.

This two-day conference will feature distinguished speakers who will cover a diverse range of topics including The Kidney in Cardiometabolic Disease, Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH), Cardiovascular Disease in Diabetes, Secondary Causes in Diabetes, Diabetes Amputations, Oral and Device Treatment of Neuropathic Pain, GLP-1 Agonist Therapy and the Diabetic Eye, Collaborative Endocrine Care, Diabetes Technology, Type 1 Diabetes Management and New Innovations, Type 1 Diabetes Management and Genetics, Obesity and Nutrition, Evolution of Inpatient Management of Diabetes, Al Role in Diabetes Care, The Evolution of Diabetes over the Last Twenty Years, and other conditions tied to diabetes.

The purpose of this conference is to keep health professionals up-to-date on the latest strategies for preventing, managing, and treating diabetes and its complications. Participants will gain practical tools and clinical insights to improve patient outcomes and deliver high-quality, patient-centered diabetes care.

Educational Objectives:

  • Develop treatment plans that prioritize cardiovascular and renal risk reduction beyond simply managing A1C.
  • Integrate modern therapies and technologies (e.g., CGMs, SGLT2i) into individualized patient care plans.
  • Implement guideline-based strategies to screen for and manage major diabetic complications like neuropathy, retinopathy, and foot ulcers.
  • Apply principles of collaborative care, health equity, and legal risk management to enhance practice safety and efficiency.
