OVERVIEW

Pediatric Echocardiography Update (PEU) 2025 is organized by Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and will be held on Apr 05, 2025 at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America.

Description:
The Pediatric Echocardiography Update 2025 is a comprehensive educational meeting designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals relating to pediatric echocardiography, with a special focus on pulmonary hypertension across various age groups. This event will feature diverse sessions, including expert-led presentations, interactive case discussions, and hands-on workshops. Participants will engage in specialized tracks covering neonatal hemodynamics, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and congenital heart disease, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of current challenges and innovations in diagnosis and management. Key topics include the hemodynamics of fetal transition, the history of Targeted Neonatal Echocardiography, and the latest advancements in echocardiographic techniques. Attendees will also benefit from asynchronous learning modules that delve into critical clinical scenarios, such as congenital diaphragmatic hernia and meconium aspiration. This meeting aims to foster a multidisciplinary approach to pediatric cardiac care, ultimately improving patient outcomes through enhanced echocardiographic assessment and management strategies.

This course will focus on the use of echocardiography to recognize and understand the importance of thorough assessment of patients with pulmonary hypertension. The workshop was designed with the sonographer’s learning experience in mind. This hybrid course will offer in-person or virtual attendance. All lectures will be recorded and available on-demand to all registrants for a limited time following the conference's conclusion.

The small-group, hands-on scanning session will be led by senior cardiac sonographers and will give participants an opportunity to improve their understanding of anatomy and scanning technique for assessing pulmonary hypertension. Space is limited to 25 participants, in-person attendance only.

Interesting cases will be presented simultaneous to the hands-on session. These presentations will focus on the application of the knowledge gained from the didactic lectures to real-life clinical scenarios.

Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Perform and interpret echocardiograms, with a focus on pulmonary hypertension, both with and without congenital heart disease, as well as related conditions.
  • Assess the hemodynamic changes associated with fetal transition and evaluate the impact of various clinical scenarios in the premature infant.
  • Apply evidence-based practices and the latest innovations in the management of patent ductus arteriosus.
  • Differentiate between pulmonary hypertension and other cardiac conditions through case study analysis and integrate echocardiographic findings into comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Utilize advanced imaging techniques, such as 3D echocardiography, myocardial strain analysis, and ultrasound enhancing agents to assess right ventricular function.
  • Initiate collaborative care by effectively communicating with interdisciplinary teams and engaging in networking opportunities to enhance pediatric cardiac care practices.
