OVERVIEW

Addiction Education for ST Doctors is organized by Evidence Based Sweden AB and will be held from Dec 17 - 19, 2025 at Elite Hotel Marina Plaza, Helsingborg, Scania, Sweden.

Description:
There are several reasons why education about addictive disorders and their treatments is of great importance to physicians:

The prevalence of addiction problems: Addictive disorders are common, affecting millions of people worldwide. Doctors need to understand these disorders in order to provide proper diagnosis and treatment.

The complexity of the disease: Addictive disorders are not just physical; they involve psychological, social, and biological factors. Without proper training, it can be difficult for doctors to identify and manage these complex aspects effectively.

Stigma and Misunderstandings: There is still a lot of stigma surrounding addiction, which can lead to people not seeking help or their problems being underestimated. Through education, doctors can be given the tools to treat patients with empathy and without prejudice.

Comorbidity: Many people with addictions also have other health problems, such as mental health or chronic illnesses. A doctor trained in managing addictions can better address these comorbidities.

Effective treatment: Education provides doctors with knowledge of the latest treatment methods, including medical and psychological interventions, which increases the chances of patients recovering and living a healthy life.

Overall goals:
The overall goal of the course is to provide knowledge about the management of different types of addiction. Furthermore, the course will contribute to the ST physician developing an integrated approach to the mechanisms of addiction, mastering investigation and being able to provide evidence-based clinical treatment.
