OVERVIEW

For the Heart of MN: A Cardiovascular Nursing Conference is organized by Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) and will be held on Oct 04, 2024 at The Gathering Event Center, Crosslake, Minnesota, United States of America.

Description:
Join the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation for a professional development opportunity and earn education credits! This cardiovascular education event is custom-tailored for nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and licensed practical nurses navigating adult cardiovascular patient care in rural settings.

Care for individuals with cardiovascular disease continues to grow and advance in complexity. In the area of rural healthcare, nurses face additional challenges to staying abreast of best practices. Opportunities for training are limited and travel can be a barrier to accessing high-quality education. The need to address cardiovascular health in rural America is not just a local issue, but has been recognized nationally as well, with the AHA’s Call to Action on rural health. Moreover, while nurses have an important role to play in addressing health in rural settings, they do need comprehensive and specialized training in order to do so.

Learning Objectives:

  • Name three recent diet trends and what the research suggests is best for cardiovascular health.
  • Name indications for and advantages to doing point of care ultrasound.
  • Discuss the purpose of diagnostic monitoring of heart rhythms and the risks/benefits of ablation.
  • Describe the benefits of the C5 program for local providers and patients.
  • Outline the risks/benefits/prescribing considerations for GLP1-RA medications for cardiovascular risk reduction.
