At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

• Discuss the mechanisms of action, role and pros/cons of SGLT2-inhibitors and finerenone in the prevention of CKD progression.  
• Discuss the mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetic, and pharmacodynamic characteristics of loop and thiazide diuretic agents.  
• Describe the mechanisms of action and pros/cons of therapies for the management of hyperkalemia, anemia, and CKD-MBD.  
• Choose an appropriate management for edema, acute and chronic hyperkalemia, anemia, and CKD-MDB in a patient with CKD.  
• Discuss the mechanisms of action, role and pros/cons of current and emerging therapies for the treatment of IgA Nephropathy.

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

• Discuss the burden of opioid misuse and abuse on the individual and society.
• Describe the fundamental concepts of pain management, including: a) addiction; b) tolerance; c) dependency; d) hyperalgesia; e) allodynia.
• State key principles for assessing patients in pain, identifying risk factors and behaviors that are associated with opioid misuse, abuse, and addiction.
• Describe the similarities and differences in the mechanism of action for opioids, cannabinoids and gabapentenoids.
• Compare and contrast the benefits, risks and role of opioids, cannabinoids and gabapentenoids in managing pain.
• Describe the best practice model for properly monitoring patients who are started on opioids, gabapentenoids and cannabinoids to minimize the risks of adverse reactions, over-dosage and inappropriate compliance.
• Compare and contrast the following product formulations of gabapentenoids with respect to their benefits and risks in managing pain: a) gabapentin (Neurontin); b) Horizant; c) Gralise; and, d) Lyrica.
• Compare and contrast the most common cannabinoids found in marijuana with regards to their benefits and risks in managing pain and other symptoms.
• State the risks of combining opioids with: a) benzodiazepines; b) alcohol; c) gabapentenoids; and d) cannabinoids.
• Describe how to counsel patients and caregivers regarding the safe use on naloxone for opioid overdose

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

Protecting the Vulnerable: Improving Safety of Antimicrobials in the Elderly Population:  

• Evaluate methods to improve safety of antimicrobial prescribing in the elderly.  
• Review antimicrobial therapy recommendations within Beers Criteria.  
• Examine best antimicrobials practices through case application.  

Mastering Migraine Management: Update on Current Therapies:  

• Review current older management strategies for migraine headaches.  
• Discuss role of newer agents including CGRP inhibitors.  
• Examine best practices through case application.  

Obesity and Weight Loss:  

• Review risk factors and criteria within obesity  
• Describe appropriate patient populations for weight loss pharmacotherapy.  
• Delineate key characteristics of various approved and future pharmacotherapy options including GLP-1 and GIP agonists.  
• Apply knowledge within patient cases to select an appropriate pharmacotherapy option.

In Person Conference Registration:  Conference registration includes workshop attendance, handouts, breakfast or refreshments during the meetings and documentation of continuing education credit. Spouses, family and friends are welcome and do not need to register unless they attend the educational sessions. Special seminar fees are available for non-professional accompanying persons who wish to attend one or more session (no special receipt, certification or credit issued).

Live Stream Webcast Registration:  Includes live conference streaming, access to online course materials and documentation of continuing education credit.

Requirements For Credit: Credit is dependent on verification of conference attendance by on-time check-in at each session and ULS receipt of completed evaluations. Credit is determined based on actual attendance on a per session basis, no partial credit is awarded.

Pharmacists: Please ensure that we have your NABP# and date of birth on file. ACPE does not allow us to provide you with paper statements of credit.

Statements of Credit:  Should you need a paper statement of credit, you can access that information via CPE Monitor. All other professionals: An applicable paper Statement of Credit will be issued upon receipt of your post-conference paperwork.

Note: Approximately one 15 minute break per 2.5 hours. Credited hours do not include breaks.

RESORT FEE:
The Resort Fee has been reduced to $25.00 (plus 13.38% tax) per room, per day, and will be added to the room rate. The Resort Fee provides guests with several of the most commonly requested additional services in one package price without being charged several individual fees. The items included in the fee are:

CHECK IN / CHECK OUT TIMES
The HOTEL’s check-in time is 3:00 PM. Check out time is 11:00 AM. All guests arriving before 3:00 P.M. will be accommodated as rooms become available. The HOTEL’s bell captain can arrange to check baggage for guests arriving early if rooms are unavailable and for guests attending functions on departure day. Photo identification will be required upon check in.

Attrition Surcharge
If you don't make reservations and stay at the hotel where University Learning Systems has reserved a block of rooms, you must add the attrition surcharge to the conference fee. Staying at hotel with an offer other than the ULS Group Code such as through a third party booking, still requires payment of the Attrition Surcharge.

ULS will verify all rooming/cabin information with the hotel /travel agent and the hotel /travel agent has the right to release pertinent information to ULS for all attendees. No credit will be reported until the Attrition Surcharge is satisfied.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Unfortunately we have recently experienced a rash of attendees not utilizing the ULS designated hotel or travel agent causing ULS to incur significant penalties.
