ISSTD is excited to welcome you to Louisville in April for our 40th Annual Conference. We are thrilled to have Bethany Brand, Ph.D. on Saturday, April 15, Jennifer J. Freyd, Ph.D. on Sunday, April 16, and David Archer, MSW, MFT on Monday, April 17 as our expert Plenary speakers.
ISSTD plans to hold the 2023 Annual Conference in person in Louisville. Additionally, two streams of presentations on the main conference days (Saturday-Monday) are available for virtual participation via live stream.
Conference Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
• Identify the most relevant and recent research in the field of trauma and dissociation.
• Explain the central role that dissociation plays in complex trauma-related disorders
• Check for complex PTSD, dissociative disorders, and other comorbidities in clients
• Identify the cultural, religious, and social effects of trauma, dissociation and trauma-informed treatment
• Assess and treat children, teens, and adults with complex dissociative disorders, developmental trauma disorder, or PTSD.
• Discuss the relationship between trauma, dissociation and other psychological symptoms and disorders, such as personality disorders.
• Use new approaches and interventions to treat complex trauma and dissociation
• Identify and work effectively with transference
• Recognize, Avoid, or Resolve Therapeutic pitfalls, Resistances, Counter-Resistances and Impasses
• Recognize and discuss the ethical and relational issues that trauma and dissociation patients pose and suggest productive solutions.
• Recognize and effectively address countertransference, vicarious and other needs in therapist self-care
