International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) 32nd World Congress is organized by International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and will be held from Sep 19 - 23, 2023 at Grand Hotel Bernardin, Portoroz, Piran, Slovenia.
Description:
The World Congress aims to put the issue of suicide on the agenda globally and regionally, but it also seeks to show that action must be taken locally. The traditional biennial IASP World Congress is an opportunity to engage with a diverse community of academics, researchers, clinicians, crisis workers, lived experience, volunteers and all associated with suicide prevention or working within suicide prevention-related topics. It represents a rich platform for spreading knowledge and sharing local, national, and international strategies for suicide prevention. The IASP World Congress is a multi-sectorial event highlighting multi-disciplinary approaches to preventing suicide in all its complexity.
The community day is a ½-day program, which will be held on Saturday 23rd September 2023, aimed at members of the local community and the general public to raise awareness about suicidal behavior, mental health issues, and bereavement after suicide. The event will include the following activities;
• Short lectures on bereavement, recognizing suicidal distress, and taking appropriate action;
• A live ‘human’ library;
• Two discussion panels focusing on the experiences of individuals who have lost a loved one to suicide and the activities of organizations supporting those affected. The focus will be on developing new approaches to prevention, including the establishment of a peer-to-peer support network.
Workshops will be offered to participants, providing opportunities for networking and self-care. The event will also provide an opportunity for various mental health organizations to present their activities to the public in the form of stands, as well as an opportunity for networking between various institutions and non-governmental organizations in this field. Congress delegates are invited to attend. However, please note that some of the content will be presented in Slovenian language.
Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
