This course is designed to present the most recent and relevant, state-of-the-art information for the treatment of the most challenging and unusual problems of the shoulder and knee joint, things you must know to offer complete, comprehensive treatment options for your patients.

The course utilizes an evidence-based approach to treatment discussing the latest research and more than 600 actual case studies delivered through lectures, demonstration videos, hands-on laboratory sessions, and open discussions.

Attendees will have the opportunity to master new and effective evaluation and treatment techniques and implement them immediately into their practice as they learn from the best.

Learning Objectives – Shoulder:
Upon successful completion of this seminar, the practitioner will learn how to:
• Demonstrate an understanding of the anatomy & biomechanics of the shoulder complex
• Recognize capsular restrictions of the Glenohumeral joint
• Perform specific clinical exam special tests, joint assessment techniques & performance tests
• Recognize specific rotator cuff lesions & pathologies
• Perform specific joint mobilization, stretching for the shoulder joint complex
• Design an effective and appropriate evidence-based rehabilitation program for various shoulder dysfunctions.

Learning Objectives- Knee:
Upon successful completion of this seminar, the practitioner will learn how to:
• Understand the anatomy and biomechanics of the knee joint
• Develop an understanding of patellofemoral joint pain & dysfunction & develop a treatment program from an evidence-based approach
• Demonstrate and organize a functional assessment for specific knee disorders
• Interpret the information obtained from the clinical examination & functional assessment and develop a treatment plan
• Design an effective and appropriate rehabilitation program based on current clinical and scientific research for the following knee pathologies:
       • ACL surgery
       • ACL reconstruction
       • ACL MAD procedure, ALL procedures of the knee
       • Patellofemoral pain & post-operative rehabilitation
       • Tendinopathies
       • Post-operative articular cartilage procedures
       • Knee stiffness & loss of motion
       • Knee stiffness & loss of motion
       • Return to Play Criteria – evidence-based
       • Specific techniques to improve healing & promote muscle hypertrophy
• Analyze specific exercise techniques, such as weight-bearing & non-weight-bearing exercises and understand joint kinematics and muscular activity & then be able to develop the treatment plan for the appropriate exercises for the specific patient
• Integrate the information presented in this course and demonstrate problem-solving skills through the development of treatment plans for specific case studies presented

Behavioral Objectives:
Day 1 Shoulder:
• By the end of the course the participant will explain the definitions of laxity and instability for a patient undergoing an initial shoulder evaluation.
• By the end of the course, given the findings of a post-surgery evaluation of a female athlete following rotator cuff repair, the participant will explain 4 specific risk factors associated with the risk of developing stiffness.
• By the end of the course, the participant, using evidence-based data for a patient recovering from RC repair, will discuss two rationales of an individualized, gradual, progressive rehab program.
• By the end of the course, given a patient following rotator cuff repair, will design a protocol using five advanced strengthening phase exercises.
• By the end of the course, a patient with a diagnosis of Adhesive Capsulitis (frozen shoulder) will develop a comprehensive protocol for rehabilitation.
• By the end of the course, for a patient with a suspected SLAP lesion showing high specificity and sensitivity, integrate three tests for evaluation.
• By the completion of the course, for a non-operative overhead throwing athlete with osteophyte, the participant will be able to design a rehabilitation using 4 components discussed in the course.

Day 2 Knee:
• By the completion of the course, for a female patient at risk for an ACL Injury, the participant will be able to differentiate between 3 biomechanical and 3 neuromuscular variations.
• By the completion of the course, for a female athlete at risk for an ACL injury, the participant will be able to explain 3 anatomical variations that increase the risk of injury.
• By the completion of the course, for a post-operative patient with a non-isolated ACL injury, the participant will be able to explain three side effects.
• By the completion of the course, the participant will be able to justify slow rehabilitation for an athlete who has undergone a Hamstring autograph versus an athlete who has undergone bone, patellar, or tendon autograft.
• By the end of the course, for a patient with an ACL deficiency, the participant will be able to articulate 4 tissue types of allografts utilized in reconstruction.
• By the end of the course, for an athlete needing to develop core strength, the participant will be able to demonstrate t therapeutic exercises using a Swiss Ball.
• By the end of the course, for a post-op athlete exhibiting ACL loss of motion, the participant will be able to choose 4 treatments to increase knee extension and range of motion.
• By the end of the course, the participant will be able to explain 5 factors contributing to the development of trigger points in skeletal muscle in a patient with hyperalgesia.
