Day 1 - Program Psychiatric Potpourri: What’s new in the world of schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and Alzheimer’s disease

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:
1. Describe the pharmacologic properties and role of newer antipsychotic agents. 2. Recognize differences between recent long acting injectable antipsychotics. 3. Discuss newer treatment strategies for Alzheimer’s Disease. 4. Identify recent treatment options for managing psychiatric complications in Alzheimer’s disease. 5. Discuss traditional agents used to manage depression, anxiety and PTSD. 6. Identify the role of newer agents (e.g., ketamine, psilocybin) in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and PTSD. 7. Recognize cardio- vascular adverse effects of psychiatric medications. 8. Discuss the impact of genetics on drug response and its role in the pharmacologic management of patients. 9. Explain specific important pharmacokinetic variations with pharmacologic agents in the treatment of mood disorders.
Day 2 - New Drug Update 2023

Outpatient Protocols for Post-COVID (Long-COVID) Syndrome: Acute Management and Long-Term Surveillance : 4. Review diagnostic criteria for Post-Covid Syndrome. 5. Identify symptoms associated with Post-Covid Syndrome. 6. Discuss treatment options for the patient with post-covid syn- drome. Post Herpetic Neuralgias: 1. Describe the etiology and pathophysiology of herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia. 2. Identify signs and symptoms of herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia. 3. Discuss acute treatment options for the individual with herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia
Day 3 - Updates in Pharmacotherapy for Weight Loss and Infectious Disease

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:
Session 2A-Obesity and Weight Loss : 1) Review risk factors and criteria within obesity 2) Describe ap- propriate patient populations for weight loss pharmacotherapy. 3) Delineate key characteristics of various pharmacotherapy options including GLP-1 agonists. 4) Apply knowledge within patient cases to select an appropriate pharmacotherapy option.
Session2B- New Antimicrobials, Penicillin Allergy De-labeling, Shorter Durations of Therapy, and IV to PO conversion and new HIV PreP: 5. Review various new FDA-approved antimicrobials. 6.Evaluate the seagents critically for use in clinical practice.7.Re- view new drugs for prevention of HIV infection (HIV PreP) in high risk individuals. 8. Discuss penicillin allergies including long-term implications. 9. Describe process and recent data supporting intervention strategies to de-label patients. 10. Describe disease states for which shorter durations of therapy data are growing. 11. Review data for which IV to PO conversion is growing for complicated infections.

Spouses, family and friends are welcome and do not need to register unless they attend the educational sessions. Statements of Credit: Should you need a paper statement of credit, you can access that information via CPE Monitor. All other professionals: An applicable paper Statement of Credit will be issued upon receipt of your post-conference paperwork.

The Resort Fee has been reduced to $25.00 (plus 13.38% tax) per room, per day, and will be added to the room rate. CHECK IN / CHECK OUT TIMES:
The HOTEL’s check-in time is 3:00 PM. Check out time is 11:00 AM. All guests arriving before 3:00 P.M. will be accommodated as rooms become available. The HOTEL’s bell captain can arrange to check baggage for guests arriving early if rooms are unavailable and for guests attending functions on departure day. Photo identification will be required upon check in.
Attrition Surcharge:
If you don't make reservations and stay at the hotel where University Learning Systems has reserved a block of rooms, you must add the attrition surcharge to the conference fee. Staying at hotel with an offer other than the ULS Group Code such as through a third party booking, still requires payment of the Attrition Surcharge.
2023/2024 Hotel Attrition Surcharge: $200
ULS will verify all rooming/cabin information with the hotel /travel agent and the hotel /travel agent has the right to release pertinent information to ULS for all attendees. No credit will be reported until the Attrition Surcharge is satisfied.

NURSE PRACTITIONERS/ NURSES: This course provides 15 contact hours (1.5 CEU) over three days, 5 hours per day, to fulfill the pharmacotherapeutics/ pharmacology requirements for American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Category 1 Continuing Education Hours for certification renewal. The same hours submitted to renew certification may be submitted to a State Board of Nursing for re-licensure. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) accepts formally approved continuing education sponsored by organizations accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
PHYSICIANS: The AAFP has reviewed Current Treatment Strategies 2023 and deemed it acceptable for up to 15.00 Live AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 12/06/2023 to 12/08/2023. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1. CME programs approved by the AAFP are eligible for Category 2 credit (or Category 1-A under special circumstances) through the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS: American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for Prescribed credit from AAFP. Physician assistants may report the number of hours stated above of Category I credit for completing this program.
CONSULTANT PHARMACISTS: Some consultant pharmacist boards accept University Learning Systems courses for recertification either as is or with board approval. Please contact your board regarding course approval and ULS with any questions.
CANADIAN PHARMACISTS: Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) accepts courses accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). This credit is applicable to health professionals who may require pharmacology credit.
CANADIAN PHYSICIANS: Members of the College of Family Physicians of Canada are eligible to receive up to 15 MAINPRO-M1 credits for participation in this activity due to reciprocal agreement with the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Up to the Advanced Registration Deadline: Cancellations are subject to a $50 processing fee per person or you may apply your full registration one time to another program attended within 12 months.
After Advanced Registration Deadline: No refunds, although conference registration less $50 processing fee may be applied one time to another program attended within 12 months.
Two weeks before the start of the conference: No refunds or application of registration to another program for cancellation, nonappearance or partial attendance. No refunds due to airline delays or cancellation of flights.
We offer no international refunds, except for Canada.
Refunds will be processed by original form of payment or by check only.
Refunds may take 2-4 weeks to process after notification of cancellation.
