Diversifying clinical trials is both an ethical and a scientific necessity to ensure that clinical trials are fair and effective. Due to the current lack of diversity in the research community, it is difficult to understand how novel therapies perform across different subgroups of the population, making it difficult to make progress in reducing disparities and achieving equity in the future. Even though the importance of including diverse patient populations in clinical trials is becoming increasingly evident, much work must be done to enhance the representation of racial and minority ethnic groups in clinical trials despite growing awareness of the issue.
