Society for Sex Therapy and Research (SSTAR) 47th Annual Meeting

The 47th Annual Meeting of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research (SSTAR) is organized by Society for Sex Therapy and Research (SSTAR) and the conference will take place from April 28 to May 1, 2022 at InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, an IHG Hotel, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America.

Target Audience:
This programme is for medical and mental health practitioners who are interested in caring for persons with sexual difficulties, as well as sex researchers/scholars and trainees in sexology, psychology, and other medical and mental health fields. The Society for Sex Therapy and Research (SSTR) is the world's largest professional organisation dedicated completely to sexual issues.

Description:
The various approaches to sexual health and healing in our modern environment are reflected in this year's talks. We will hear from dynamic speakers from a variety of areas relating to human sexuality on topics ranging from technological improvements in sex therapy treatment to tackling the historical lack of representation for many persons in our industry. The necessity of integrating biopsychosociocultural knowledge in our efforts toward sexual health and well-being for all people is a theme that runs through the 2022 Annual Meeting. We will learn about cutting-edge research on sexual health throughout the transition to motherhood, sexually explicit media consumption in varied communities, and sexual vulnerabilities and protective factors for teenagers during the conference. We'll also hear from experts on sexual trauma, older adult sexuality, and the ongoing fight to legalise HIV., which is still going on 40 years after the first AIDS were revealed.

In 2022, SSTAR will hold its annual meeting at the Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile hotel, an architectural landmark, home to secret speakeasies in the 1920s, and steps away from world-class shopping and sight-seeing. It is important for us to acknowledge that the land on which we are gathering is the traditional unceded homeland of the Council of the Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations. In addition to the Miami, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Sac, and Fox, other tribes lived in the region. Indigenous people have long used the region to gather, trade, and maintain kinship ties. Today, Chicago is home to one of the largest urban Native American communities, where residents continue to contribute to the city's life, celebrate their heritage, and protect the land and waterways. Recognizing them serves as a reminder of our shared obligation to one another, as well as our vital connection to the land where we learn and work.

There will be plenty of opportunities to reconnect with colleagues and friends after more than a year of social isolation, in addition to the scientific stimulation that our gathering is sure to give. On Thursday night, there will be a cocktail reception and poster session, and on Friday night, there will be dinner and incredible jazz music at Buddy Guy's Legends, as well as many breaks and lunches during the conference. Long-time SSTAR members are encouraged to reach out to new members, students, and first-time visitors to demonstrate the collegial and inviting environment that distinguishes SSTAR.
