Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, attendees will be able to:
• Recognize some of the most cutting-edge and well-known research in the subject of trauma and dissociation
• Explain why dissociation is so important in the treatment of complex trauma-related diseases
• Examine clients for dissociative disorders, complicated PTSD, and other co-occurring disorders
• Determine the impact of culture, society, and religion on trauma, dissociation, and trauma-informed therapy
• Diagnose and treat complicated PTSD, developmental trauma disorder, and/or dissociative disorders in children, adolescents, and adults
• Explain how trauma, dissociation, and other psychological indications, symptoms, and illnesses, such as personality disorders, are linked
•  Apply new therapeutic approaches and interventions to trauma and dissociation
• Identify and handle transference effectively
•  Recognize, avoid, or resolve therapeutic pitfalls, resistances, counter-resistances, and impasses
•  Distinguish between the ethical and relational challenges presented by trauma and dissociation patients, and discuss productive approaches to these issues
• Recognize countertransference, vicarious traumatization, and therapist self-care needs, and manage them effectively
