2022 Association of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program Directors (APCCMPD) Annual Conference is organized by Association of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program Directors (APCCMPD) and will be held from Mar 09 - 11, 2022 at Eden Roc Miami Beach, Miami Beach, Florida, United States of America.

Target Audience

• Fellows with an interest in GME

• Program Coordinators and Administrator

Obectives:
Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to:
• Understand how to implement holistic review in fellow recruitment by aligning selection processes with program values.
? Learn to identify the current state vs. target state. Hear best practice to assess current selection practices and results. Utilize a framework for measuring program ? recruitment performance across a range of characteristics to better determine how successfully one's program is meeting its goals.
Understand if the program’s current approach to the selection processes delivers on program values. Incorporate information from the selection processes used at different programs.
? Design a selection rubric that incorporates a range of program values into the process.

• Apply strategies to address the PBLI2 Milestone by utilizing education psychology principles to develop self-directed learners.
? Describe and apply education psychology variables that influence learning.
? Understand the role and processes of self-directed learning in medical education.
? Mentor struggling learners through the process of task-focused, self-directed learning (via struggling learner scenarios).

• Hear best practices to teach about health disparities, race and racism.
? Hear strategies to incorporate discussions about health disparities, race, and racism into your teaching.
? Define key terms for discussions about health disparities, such as equality and equity, social determinant of health, disparity, and race.
? Describe at least one example of a health disparity in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

• Develop Strategies to Prepare for National Policies Impacting GME.
? Explain changes to existing ACGME Requirements.
? Identify changes to ACGME IM Subspecialty Milestones.
? Ask questions about ACGME policies and processes, including site visits.

Merc Pre-conference Workshops:
At the completion of the MERC @ APCCMPD Scholars Program, learners will be better able to:
• Demonstrate a foundational understanding of social science and educational research methods and the statistical strategies to support education research by conducting a scholarly research project focused on a challenge in medical education.
• Read and analyze articles in primary journals on medical education.
• Collaborate with peers and serve as mentors to others who are interested in medical education research.
• Formulate a strong research question, hypothesis, and methods consistent with rigorous research techniques in this area.
• Embrace their responsibility as professionals in academic medicine by being contributors of education research to the field.
