Course Description:
For the 2021 10th Annual ICJR Shoulder Course , the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction (ICJR) and the Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education (FORE) have joined forces to bring you internationally renowned faculty who will guide you through a dynamic and comprehensive educational agenda. This exciting program will focus on topics across the spectrum of sports medicine, trauma, arthroplasty, and arthroscopy through a combination of didactic presentations, interactive case-based panel discussions, and lively debates. It will also feature broadcasts of live surgeries and two 2-hour bio skills workshops, allowing you to practice what you’ve learned under the guidance of our expert faculty.
The 2021 10th Annual ICJR Shoulder Course will provide an intensive update on shoulder and elbow topics across the spectrum of sports medicine, trauma, and arthroplasty. The expert faculty – many of them new to this course – will share their insights and experiences on such issues as:
• Evaluating and treating sternoclavicular injuries
• Managing non-union and malunion of clavicle fractures
• Achieving internal fixation of simple and complex radial head fractures
• Managing the first time dislocator without bone loss
• Augmenting rotator cuff repair with allograft
• Understanding the options for managing the irreparable posterosuperior cuff
• Implanting an augmented glenoid component in anatomic shoulder arthroplasty
• Maximizing internal rotation in reverse shoulder arthroplasty
• Selecting candidates for outpatient shoulder arthroplasty
Learning Objectives:
• Evaluate diagnostic options and develop treatment strategies for shoulder injuries including instability, rotator cuff injuries, and labral tears
• Evaluate rotator cuff repair options for different patient categories; understand and evaluate the benefits associated with various rotator cuff repair techniques (single vs. double row, knot vs. knotless, and the use of augmentation devices)
• Compare the various treatment options for massive, retracted and irreparable rotator cuff tears; consider repair strategies that optimize outcomes for failed rotator cuff repairs
• Compare diagnostic and treatment options for anterior, posterior, and multi-directional instability; understand surgical options in managing glenoid bone loss in shoulder instability
• Apply latest and current treatment techniques in their sports medicine and orthopaedic practice
• Compare treatment and management options for shoulder arthroplasty patients; understand differences and potential benefits between hemi, anatomical total shoulder arthroplasty, and reverse shoulder arthroplasty
• Implement the latest, cutting edge techniques and technologies in their practices
• Identify strategies to improve outcomes of shoulder fractures and dislocation
