In addition, aesthetics are predictable and patient satisfaction and acceptance is extremely high. Initiated by T.I.D.E., this cadaver hands-on course will address the clinical skills required to achieve optimal success with the “Teeth in a Day” treatment concept. A step-by-step evaluation of all parameters will be addressed with comprehensive hands-on practical exercises with the specimens provided. The implementation of the “Teeth in a Day” treatment concept will require several parameters to be covered in detail as cited below. Course Outline: • Systematic pre-treatment evaluation and patient selection criteria. • Comprehensive treatment planning and diagnostic evaluation for full arch or full mouth implant rehabilitation. • Surgical parameters and anatomical considerations for number (4 to 6) and location of implants to achieve initial stability for the maxillary and mandibular arches. • Immediate conversion for fixed provisional and loading consideration protocol. • Step-by-step review of the conversion technique from the complete dentures to the screw retained immediate provisional. • Step-by-step review for final fixed prosthetic parameters for optimal aesthetics and functional occlusion. • Prevention and management of complications for TIAD treatment modality. Who is this course suitable for? Qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working in neurology who are approaching, or are already at, a more experienced level in their clinical practice. Course description: This BBTA and IBITA recognised course is split into 3 modules over a period of 4-5 months. Module 1 is 2 weeks in length and consists of theoretical and practical sessions and patient demonstrations. As a course member, you are involved in patient treatment sessions supervised by tutors. Module 2 is a period of independent learning resulting in the production of a clinically based case project. Module 3 is 1 week in length and consists of theoretical and practical sessions, patient demonstrations, and workshops. Learning Outcomes: • At the conclusion of the course the you will be able to: • Understand the history and ongoing development of The Bobath Concept. • Integrate the principles of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) in your evaluation and treatment of adults with neurological disorders. • Analyse and facilitate efficient postural and movement control in preparation for, and during, functional activity. • Understand the functional consequences of lesions of the central nervous system. • Observe and analyse inefficient movement and function and influence this through intervention. • Utilise the principles of motor control, motor learning, neural plasticity and muscle plasticity in your approach to treatment. • Understand the relationship between assessment and treatment and implement the ongoing process of your clinical reasoning. • Adapt and apply appropriate theoretical principles of treatment to the individual patient/client within their environment. • Develop effective handling skills and incorporate them appropriately, taking into account environmental and other influences in order to regain function. • Appreciate the importance of appropriate outcome measures to support evidence based practice. • Continue learning through critical reading, self evaluation, and sharing with others. • For completion of the course the you will have undertaken a period of self-directed learning in the form of a case project assignment related to your clinical practice of The Bobath Concept.
