Description: This is intended to bring together neurosurgeons from all over the world to discuss the current guidelines and future of neurosurgical care. We intend to investigate solutions to challenges of practicing neurosurgery in various parts of the world and will also discuss difficult cases. The goal is that each attendee will expand their neuroscience knowledge base, become more familiar with current management guidelines in neurosurgery, have a forum to discuss difficult cases and be able to provide better quality care upon return to their practices. Objectives: • Discuss the challenges of providing neurosurgical services in a developing country. • Describe the management of various spine tumors and neural tube defects. • Recognize various intraventricular tumors and their surgical treatment. • Identify the role of dorsal column stimulation. • Identify traumatic brain injury guidelines. • Recognize the barriers to neurosurgical training in Africa. • Discuss management of elevated intracranial pressure. • Explain brain death and post mortem organ donation. • Recognize the role of hospice care. • Recognize the management of hydrocephalus and seizure management. • Explain the current evidence on the management of common peripheral neuropathies. • Identify how to provide quality neurosurgical care and prevent malpractice. • Identify interventional pain modalities for the treatment of back pain. • Recognize spinopelvic parameters that are important in complex spine surgery. • Describe the role of navigation, robotics, and augmented reality in neurosurgery. • Recognize the basics of neuroanesthesia. • Discuss the indications for surgical treatment and management of degenerative spine disease and traumatic spine injuries.
