European Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiology (EACTA) Echo Course 2020 is organized by European Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiology (EACTA) and will be held from Jun 27 - 30, 2020 at Herzzentrum Leipzig, Leipzig, Saxony, Germany. Course Description: This year’s program is aimed at perioperative echocardiographers of all levels of expertise involved in the care of a wide spectrum of complex surgical patients. It showcases practical applications of all advanced perioperative echocardiographic techniques in everyday clinical scenarios by international experts in the field. The new format was designed to maximize the degree of audience interaction and hands-on experience in all Basic, Certification and Advanced Courses. The Basic Course adopts a flipped-class approach to provide the attendees an introduction to the basis of echocardiography. The pre-course reading material allows for 80% hands-on time. The four-to-one learners to instructor ratio, in groups of similar level of expertise, will maximise individual probe time. The groups are selected based on the pre-course test. The hands-on will be with live models and high-end transesophageal echocardiography simulators. The Certification course introduces a new case-based format to fulfill the educational needs when preparing for the EACVI perioperative TEE exam but also serves as a comprehensive review of clinically relevant topics for the practicing echocardiographer. An audience response system further enhances interaction and learning experience. The Advanced course comprises 16 hours of LIVE transmission of intraoperative echocardiography. World experts will provide a practical demonstration of how to best apply new echocardiographic techniques such as 3D and strain, using all available platforms, in a series of real cases. These will include open surgical procedures, minimally invasive approaches and catheter-based interventions. Electronic question system allows immediate simultaneous interaction with the echocardiographers. The re-designed social program will provide daily networking opportunities in the vibrant social environment that Leipzig is proud to offer.
