Tongue Thrust and Beyond: A Myofunctional Therapy Course is organized by International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) and will be held from Dec 24 - 27, 2020 at Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Learning Outcomes: • Course Learning Expectations - The Participant Will Be Able to: • Understand the history of myofunctional therapy and how this field began • Explain why myofunctional therapy exists • Identify the role of the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) • Identify the anatomy and physiology of the muscles of the face, tongue, and other related structures • Demonstrate the ability to identify myofunctional disorders • Define myofunctional therapy • Master and perform the assessment and treatment of myofunctional disorders • Write treatment goals that are achievable and measurable • Perform and appreciate the hierarchy of treatment intervention • Describe the rationale behind the treatment hierarchy • Demonstrate understanding of the importance of mutual referral • Demonstrate understanding of the importance of teamwork • Identify the best time to begin myofunctional treatment • Identify the appropriate time for discharge • Master and abide by the policies, bylaws, and professional code of conduct of the IAOM • Describe and understand how to become an IAOM member • Identify the key elements of a successful practice Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
