OVERVIEW

The Mulligan Concept™ Upper Quadrant Course 2027 is organized by North American Mulligan Concept™ Teachers Association (NA-MCTA) and will be held from Jul 10 - 11, 2027 at Rosengarten Athletic Complex, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, United States of America.

Description:
This two-day course presents a comprehensive and hands-on exploration of the MULLIGAN™ approach to manual therapy for the cervical spine, thoracic spine, and upper extremity. Through a blend of lecture, live patient demonstrations, and focused lab time, participants will learn to apply Mobilization With Movement (MWM) techniques in a clinical framework that emphasizes immediate functional change and pain-free outcomes. The MWM approach provides a skill-dependent, patient-centered intervention that restores joint and soft tissue function through precise, pain-free mobilizations and active patient movement. The course is rooted in the current concepts in neurophysiology, pain science and motor retraining to support clinical reasoning and lasting functional results.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the theoretical principles:
underlying the Mulligan Concept, including pain-free mobilization with movement (MWM) and the concept of positional fault correction and neurophysiological mechanism in the upper quadrant.
  • Identify key anatomical structures:
and neuromuscular relationships relevant to Mulligan techniques for the cervical spine, thoracic spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand.
  • Demonstrate accurate patient assessment skills
to determine indications, contraindications for appropriate selection and delivery of Mulligan techniques for upper quadrant conditions.
  • Perform Mulligan Mobilization with Movement (MWM) techniques
for the shoulder and elbow with correct therapist and patient positioning and appropriate force application.
  • Demonstrate the use of taping and self-treatment strategies
consistent with the Mulligan Concept to reinforce carryover between clinical sessions for the wrist and elbow.
  • Discuss current research evidence
from the past 5 years supporting the efficacy and safety of the Mulligan Concept in managing upper quadrant musculoskeletal conditions.
