OVERVIEW

New Trends and Practical Insights in Breast Pathology - From Morphology to Molecular Medicine: Navigating the New Era of Breast Cancer Diagnostics is organized by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and will be held from Feb 25 - 26, 2027 at Hyatt Regency New Orleans, New Orleans, Louisiana, United States of America.

Description:
This course focuses on practical approaches to everyday diagnostic challenges through engaging lectures and interactive discussions of real cases. Expert faculty will review the latest WHO classification of breast tumors, recent advances in breast cancer biomarkers and HER2 testing, and the expanding roles of immunohistochemistry, molecular diagnostics, digital pathology, and artificial intelligence in diagnostic practice. Challenging lesions, including lobular, spindle cell, fibroepithelial, papillary, and apocrine lesions, as well as the evaluation of breast resection specimens following neoadjuvant therapy, will be discussed with an emphasis on diagnostic pearls, common pitfalls, and practical, evidence-based approaches to diagnosis.

Whether you are looking to strengthen your diagnostic skills, refine your approach to challenging cases, or stay current with the latest developments in breast pathology, this course will provide practical knowledge and expert insights that can be readily incorporated into daily practice to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient care.

Course Highlights:

  • Update on contemporary breast pathology and the latest WHO classification.
  • Case-based approach to common and challenging breast lesions, including lobular, spindle cell, fibroepithelial, papillary, and apocrine lesions.
  • Current breast cancer biomarkers, including HER2-low and HER2-ultralow.
  • Diagnostic use of immunohistochemistry and emerging biomarkers.
  • Evaluation of breast resection specimens after neoadjuvant therapy.
  • Future directions in artificial intelligence, digital pathology, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Two interactive case discussions focused on diagnostic pitfalls and best practices

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply current concepts in the classification and diagnosis of breast lesions and carcinomas, including special histologic types and challenging lesions.
  • Implement best practices for biomarker assessment, immunohistochemistry, staging, and pathology reporting.
  • Recognize emerging developments in breast pathology, including HER2-low/ultralow breast cancer, novel biomarkers, and WHO classification updates.
  • Integrate digital pathology, artificial intelligence, molecular diagnostics, and precision oncology into breast pathology practice.
