OVERVIEW
Manual Trigger Point Therapy 1 is organized by Myopain Seminars and will be held from Mar 19 - 22, 2027 at Myopain Seminars - Corporate Office, Bethesda, Maryland, United States of America.
Description:
The MTT-1 (Upper Body) course features an introduction to the history of trigger points and myofascial pain. Theory components (primarily through home-study video modules) feature the clinical aspects of myofascial pain, peripheral and central sensitization, the etiology and scientific basis of myofascial pain, and manual trigger point therapy.
During the in-person weekend, many upper body muscles commonly associated with myofascial symptoms in clinical practice will be addressed. Students will review the anatomy, function, precise palpation, and manual therapy techniques for each muscle.
Objectives:
Understand that myofascial trigger points can account for many common but enigmatic conditions of pain and dysfunction
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of relevant musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology in the context of myofascial trigger points
- Be able to define sub-optimal function in relation to myofascial trigger points
- Understand the process of normal pain mechanisms; reception, transmission and modulation
- Demonstrate knowledge of the etiology of myofascial trigger point
- Demonstrate knowledge of the formation and biochemical mechanism of myofascial trigger points
- Demonstrate knowledge of the mechanisms of perpetuation of myofascial trigger points
- Learn the evidence for accurate palpation of taut bands and myofascial trigger points throughout the body
- Demonstrate knowledge of and perfect the detection and full inactivation of myofascial trigger points
- Demonstrate mastery of all of the above by passing a theory examination
