OVERVIEW

Manual Therapy for Shoulder Impingement is organized by Summit Professional Education and will be held on Feb 07, 2027 in Flushing, New York, United States of America.

Description:
The prevalence of shoulder pain in the general population is estimated as being between 15 and 20%. It is the second most common reason for individuals withmusculoskeletal dysfunction to seek treatment from general medical practitioners. Clinicians are faced with the challenge of performing a timely comprehensive examination that provides the necessary information for the development of a clear plan of care for patients and clients. Once the examination is complete, clinicians must choose the best evidence based interventions that can be performed based on his or her psychomotor skill and the patient/client's preference.

This course will assist clinicians with prioritizingexamination tests and measures by presenting recent diagnosis related research for the shoulder complex. Participants will improve their clinical reasoning through study of case examples of patients with varying levels of functionality due to shoulder impingement. Manual therapy techniques will be presented through both live demonstrationand clear, concise illustrated hand-out materials. Clinicians with all levels of experiences and expertise will be able toeffectively manage patients with dysfunction due to shoulderimpingement using a hands-on manual therapy approach.

Highlights:

  • Hands-on lab activities with clear step-by-step visual and narrative descriptions of manual therapy management strategies for patients experiencing pain due to subacromial impingement syndrome of the shoulder
  • Enhanced palpation skills based on systematic approaches to surface anatomy
  • Communication tools to effectively collaboratewith all treatment team members, including referralsources
  • Effective evidence-based treatment interventions based on anatomy and biomechanics
  • Next- day hands on treatments for clinicians at all experience levels

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the relevant regional anatomical contributions to normal shoulder complex function.
  2. Provide a patient examination of SubacromialImpingement Syndrome and guidance to appropriate plan of care decisions.
  3. Review anatomy and biomechanics of Subacromial Impingement Syndrome.
  4. Skillfully perform appropriate joint mobilization and soft tissue techniques to address Subacromial Impingement Syndrome to optimize patient participation in occupational, recreational, and essential functional activities.
