OVERVIEW

Effective Manual Therapy Techniques for the Cervical, Thoracic, and Lumbar Spine is organized by Summit Professional Education and will be held on Feb 06, 2027 in Flushing, New York, United States of America.

Description:
Over 84% of the population will experience an acute episode of spine pain. It is the most common reason forindividuals with musculoskeletal conditions seeking treatment from general medical practitioners. Clinicians are faced with the challenge of performing a timely and thorough examination of the spine that provides the necessary information for the development of a clear plan of care for patients and clients. Once the examination is complete, clinicians must choose the best evidence-based interventionsthat can be performed based on his or her psychomotor skill and the patient/client's preference.

This course will assist clinicians with prioritizingexamination tests and measures by presenting recent diagnosis-related research for the spine. A case-based clinical reasoning approach will provide participants with the ability to clearly communicate findings with patients and colleagues. Manual therapy techniques will be presented through both live demonstration and clear, concise illustrated handout materials. Clinicians with all levels of experience and expertise will be able to effectively manage patients with spine dysfunction using a hands-on manual therapy approach.

Highlights:

  • Confidently provide a brief systematic assessment that includes differential diagnosis for the spine
  • Hands-on treatments you can use the next day to improve outcomes for clinicians at all experience levels
  • Practice manual therapy and palpation skills techniques with clear, step-by-step visual andnarrative descriptions of all treatment applications
  • Multidisciplinary communication tools to effectively collaborate with all treatment team members, including referral sources
  • Effective evidence-based treatment interventions based on the latest research andanatomy and biomechanics
  • Improve patient adherence and self- management to maintain outcomes

Learning Objectives:

  1. Differentiate the relevant regional anatomical contributions to normal spine function.
  2. Apply a consistent, accurate, and systematic approach to palpating structures critical for manual therapy of the spine.
  3. Evaluate all relevant patient history and examination information as a means of making appropriate patient plan ofcare decisions.
  4. Demonstrate the most appropriate joint mobilization techniques to address spine pain and dysfunction.
  5. Utilize soft-tissue techniques for painful spine conditions.
  6. Implement and educate patients appropriately based on examination findings to promote self-management and adherence.
  7. Apply self-management activities to optimize patient participation in occupational, recreational, and essential functional activities.
