OVERVIEW
Active Release Techniques (ART): Lower Extremity Level 1 is organized by Active Release Techniques (ART) and will be held from Apr 16 - 18, 2027 at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chicago - Magnificent Mile, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America.
Learning Objectives:
- Paraphrase Relative Motion and how it pertains to ART treatment.
- Interpret Single-loop Negative Feedback and how it pertains to ART treatment.
- Recite the four basic components of ART treatment protocols.
- Recognize common symptom patterns of lower extremity neuromuscular injuries and disorders.
- Identify 62 anatomical structures of the lower extremity.
- Recall origin and insertion of 62 lower extremity structures.
- Palpate 62 anatomical soft-tissue structures within the lower extremity, using an appropriate tension, depth, and motion to properly perform the treatment protocol.
- Summarize the cellular response to ART® treatment on soft tissue structures.
- Instruct a patient to perform concentric and eccentric muscle contractions.
- Compare healthy and unhealthy tissue utilizing hands-on palpation techniques.
- Identify a muscle or soft tissue that is not contracting properly through palpation and patient assessment.
- Properly select treatment protocols which help to reduce pain, improve ROM, and restore function for a patient/client to return to ADL, sport, or other desired activity outcome.
- Properly perform treatment protocols which help to reduce pain, improve ROM, and restore function for a patient/client to return to ADL, sport, or other desired activity outcome.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the anterior / lateral compartment of the lower leg.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the superficial/posterior compartment of the lower leg.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the posterior deep compartment of the lower leg and the Achilles tendon.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the posterior deep compartment of the lower leg and move into 2 structures of the ankle.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the foot and ankle.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the plantar surface of the foot.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the foot and medial ankle ligaments.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the lateral ankle ligaments as well as the tarsal ligaments.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of and around the knee.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the 4 different quadriceps muscles.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the knee and the medial aspect of the upper leg.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the antero/medial upper leg.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the posterior upper leg.
- Palpate, differentiate, and treat the structures of the hip.
- Recite the physiological methodology of ART’s Diagnostic Algorithm.
