Train New Trainers (TNT) Essentials of Primary Care Psychiatry (EPCP) 2026 Conference is organized by University of California, Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine Medical Education and will be held from Jan 16 - 17, 2026 at VEA Newport Beach, Newport Beach, California, United States of America.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Implement evidence-informed treatment for depression.
  • Identify when it is appropriate to seek mental health consultation/referral.
  • Effectively screen for substance misuse.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing to assess readiness for change and activate motivated patients along the continuum of change behavior.
  • Identify evidence-informed treatments available in primary care settings for substance misuse disorders.
  • Engage mental health colleagues in collaborative care within existing models of healthcare delivery.
  • Develop/adapt new models of care to integrate mental health care into primary care settings.
