Course Description:
This course provides an overview of the terminology and characteristics of all teeth in the adult and deciduous dentition - including identification of all important tooth structures (pits, fissures, fossae, cusps, ridges, contours, preparation walls and angles, etc.).

The course is open to all dental professionals, but it is a mandatory prerequisite for those who wish to apply for admission into the EFDA Continuing Education program offered through OSU. (Your scores from the hands-on exercise and written quiz will become part of your application.)

Learning Objectives:
After this lecture, you will be able to…

• Discuss the histologic structure of enamel, dentin, cementum, pulp, periodontal ligament and bone
• Define the terms related to tooth and tooth surface nomenclature
• Describe cavity nomenclature and supporting structures
• Demonstrate the correct placement, condensing, and carving of a Class I amalgam restoration
