OVERVIEW

Thyroid Thermal Ablation is organized by Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) and will be held from Oct 08 - 09, 2026 at IRCCS Galeazzi Hospital - Sant'Ambrogio, Milano, Lombardia, Italy.

Description:
Thyroid nodules are very common in the general population. Usually, they are asymptomatic, benign on cytology, and can be followed with observation alone in the majority of cases. Infrequently, benign nodules can grow and cause symptoms or become malignant, thus requiring treatment. Nowadays, minimally invasive image-guided treatments such as thermal ablation with radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation (MWA) or percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) have been proven to be an effective and safe treatments and represent a valid alternative to surgery in selected cases of benign and malignant thyroid nodules.

This course will discuss the thyroid general anatomy, the pathophysiology of thyroid nodule formation, and review the most widely adopted minimally invasive treatments, including indications and techniques. Extensive hands-on workshops on various modalities, including laser, radiofrequency, and microwave, will provide delegates with the opportunity to handle current devices and learn about the most advanced technologies in thyroid ablation.
