Shoulder Intermediate Course | Sydney is organized by Australian Hand Therapy Association Inc. (AHTA) and will be held on Jun 21, 2026 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Description:
This is a one-day, 8-hour interactive course which will cover conditions and injuries associated with the shoulder joint. Conditions that will be covered include AC joint pathologies, shoulder instabilities, clavicular injuries, and nerve palsies specific to the shoulder girdle.

The course will have a practical component and will focus on clinical reasoning and evidence-based treatment options for the above conditions. It will aim to improve therapists' confidence with assessment and treatment of these conditions and provide clarification when to engage and refer to other clinicians.

Learning outcomes:
At completion of the course, therapists will be able to:

  • Apply and demonstrate knowledge of assessment and treatment for shoulder conditions and factors that influence adherence to treatment, prognosis, and long-term outcomes.
  • Perform and evaluate a comprehensive subjective and objective assessment of the shoulder.
  • Analyse your subjective and objective assessment and apply your understanding of diagnosis, pathophysiology and evidence base to create and justify your management plan.
  • Prescribe and demonstrate an exercise program for various shoulder pathologies.
  • Evaluate own skill set limits to recognise when to refer or engage other clinicians.
