OVERVIEW

Robotics: Technical Training for OR Staff is organized by AdventHealth Nicholson Center and will be held on Apr 22, 2026 at AdventHealth Nicholson Center, Celebration, Florida, United States of America.

COURSE OVERVIEW:
This robotics course of instruction provides comprehensive training for the perioperative staff on the multi-port robotic Xi platform. This comprehensive training course is designated to provide first assistants, nurses, and surgical technologists with both technical and clinical applications of the robotic surgical platform. This course will focus on robotic platform technical training, preparation of the robotic surgical patient, and basic surgical 1st assistant skills required for robotic surgery.

Course Objectives:

  • Identify the specific robotic platform components, settings, and features required to safely utilize and operate the Xi robotic surgical platform.
  • Demonstrate the proper robotic platform pre-operative setup, troubleshooting measures, and emergency procedures required to safely operate the Xi robotic surgical platform.
  • Employ the proper patient positioning and robotic docking procedures for commonly performed robotic surgical procedures.
  • Recognize and articulate the roles and responsibilities of each robotic surgical team member and competently perform the proper setup for a robotic surgical procedure.
  • Apply the basic skills required for the surgical 1st assistant in a simulated robotic surgical procedure.

Overview of Objectives:

  1. Recognize and describe the function and capabilities of robotic instrumentation, platforms, and accompanying equipment needed to complete multi-port robotic procedures.
  2. Demonstrate proper technique for the setup of the  Xi robot including the sterile application of drape, patient cart positioning, and camera setup.
  3. Apply and demonstrate the fundamentals of port placement and docking for multi-port procedures.
  4. Recall and demonstrate the correct performance of instrument exchanges and arm manipulation as they relate to a robotic procedure.
  5. Apply decision-making and critical-thinking to safely approach troubleshooting and emergent situations.
