Description:
This course is a multidynamic, hands on simulation based day that provides training and refresher in first response scenarios for rural doctors. Created by experienced Rural Generalists, pre-hospital and retrieval specialists, the course will consolidate your emergency skills in unfamiliar or uncomfortable environments. This program is a development based, supportive learning environment that will support you in preparing for patient care situations outside of the clinic or hospital.

Learning Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

• Operate safely in the pre-hospital environment by employing appropriate risk assessment and mitigation strategies that ensure personal, team, scene, and patient safety.
• Contribute clinical leadership, knowledge and skills in a manner that adds value to the multi-disciplinary pre-hospital emergency response.
• Integrate findings from the scene assessment, including the mechanism of injury and knowledge of trauma kinematics to formulate appropriate priorities and pre-hospital management plans.
• Appropriately manage shock, catastrophic haemorrhage, airway, respiratory, circulatory, head, spinal and other life-threatening injuries in the pre-hospital setting.
