Description:
This activity is designed to enhance the knowledge, procedural skills, and clinical decision-making of pediatric critical care providers in the recognition and management of hemodynamic instability in critically ill children.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Identify early clinical and physiologic indicators of pediatric cardiac deterioration and initiate timely escalation of care.
• Apply evidence-based strategies in the management of pediatric shock, incorporating evolving concepts and emerging therapies.
• Utilize focused cardiac point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) to assess ventricular function and intravascular volume status.
• Interpret echocardiographic findings relevant to common pediatric shock states and integrate them into clinical decision-making.
• Recognize life-threatening pediatric arrhythmias and initiate appropriate, time-sensitive interventions.
• Demonstrate effective hemorrhage control techniques, including direct pressure, wound packing, and tourniquet use.
• Establish appropriate vascular access using peripheral, central, and intraosseous techniques in critically ill pediatric patients.
• Execute structured pediatric resuscitation using advanced life support algorithms during cardiac arrest scenarios.
• Apply crisis resource management principles, including communication and teamwork, during simulated critical care emergencies.
• Recognize unique hemodynamic challenges in pediatric oncocritical care and tailor resuscitation strategies accordingly.
• Manage acute decompensation in children with chronic complex medical conditions using scenario-based clinical reasoning.
• Optimize ventilatory strategies to support both respiratory and hemodynamic function in critically ill children.
• Describe the role of rapid response systems in early identification and mitigation of pediatric clinical deterioration.
• Apply ethical principles to complex decision-making in critically ill pediatric patients, including end-of-life care and resource utilization.
