The Nurse Practitioner Association New York State (The NPA) Region 7 Teaching Day 2026 is organized by The Nurse Practitioner Association New York State (The NPA) and will be held on Apr 24, 2026 at Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury, New York, United States of America.

Goals & Objectives:

• Identify early clinical signs & pathophysiologic mechanisms of common autoimmune disorders to support timely recognition &intervention. 
• Describe commonly used pharmacologic therapies for autoimmune diseases, including mechanisms of action, indications, contraindications & major adverse reactions. 
• Apply medication safety & monitoring principles to reduce risks related to immunosuppression, drug interactions & organ toxicity. 
• Interpret common biomarkers to identify asthma & COPD phenotypes that inform medication selection. 
• Apply current guideline-directed pharmacologic algorithms to choose & step therapies based on phenotype & symptom control. 
• Compare efficacy, safety, & monitoring considerations of key medication classes- including ICS/LABA/LAMA combinations & phenotype-directed biologics – for asthma & COPD. 
• Describe the role professional membership in advancing advocacy efforts for NPs at the local, state and national levels. 
• Explain ways professional organizations support professional growth, leadership development & continuing educations for NPs. 
• Apply strategies for engaging in professional organizations to strengthen individual & collective impact within the NP profession. 
• Differentiate between misinformation & disinformation & their impact on the NP profession. 
• Analyze how social media engagement & amplification contribute to the spread of inaccurate narratives about nursing & the NP role. 
• Identify at least three strategies NPs can use to educate the public, counter misinformation, & advance the NP role. 
• Define compassion fatigue, burnout & secondary traumatic stress.
• Identify common risk factors & early warning signs of compassion fatigue among healthcare providers. 
• Develop a personalized resilience & self-care plan to support long-term professional sustainability. 
• Differentiate first line antihypertensive medication classes based on mechanism of actions, clinical efficacy & safety considerations in accordance with current hypertension guidelines.
• Apply evidence-based pharmacologic strategies to individualize antihypertensive therapy & select guideline recommended drug combination 
• Define EDS, POTS, & MCAS including core pathophysiology & hallmark clinical features relevant to primary & specialty care. 
• Differentiate the clinical presentation of EDS, POTS & MCAS recognizing areas of symptom overlap & common comorbidities that impact pharmacologic decision-making. 
• Describe pharmacologic management strategies for POTS and MCAS. 
• Apply evidence –based syndrome approach to mediation selections, monitoring, & titration for patient with one or more of these conditions
